Experience [2008-present]

  • I have volunteering experience in various places including aiding able children, as well as those in need at the Learning tree in Elgin, Illinois. Where I played different leadership increasing games and skill activities that affected the children greatly.

·       I participated in a student athlete program in high school in which we helped disabled students in various ways. Reading to them, teaching them the fundamental skills they lacked, as well as playing fun games with them to help them have fun and enjoy life away from the issues of everyday life.

·       I serve as a dance instructor to children and pre-teens at my church in South Holland, Illinois, as well as my to high school students at Whitney Young, my alma mater in Chicago. It prepares them for seasonal performances for the congregation and concert recitals, competitions and etc. In doing so it helps them learn discipline and increase their level of physical activity as well as increasing my patience with children.

·       I have previously volunteered at the Children’s YMCA in Evanston, Illinois as a lead teacher assistant on various occasions. Playing educational games and activities, and teaching them vital life lessons help them not only to be active and healthy, but preparing them for what they are to face in the future.

·       I have also served as a coach/group leader of a youth basketball summer camp for the NO BOOKS NO BALL association. Sharing the knowledge I have obtained from my own basketball experience, it was a fun and easy way to expand my leadership qualities, as well as increase my love for the game while helping children find and heighten their love for it as well.
